i just remembered something... from the time when i worked at milestone's on robson. the old, italian man who came in every night - not to eat, just to sit inside the front door for a minute, maybe to get out of the cold (but he did it during the summer, too). he used to call me "mona lisa," and would sing that cheesy italian song every time i walked past him during my shift. he made me smile, every time. i should go visit that milestone's some time soon. see if he's still making his nightly appearance. see if he's calling some new young thing "mona lisa."
